I love the feeling of creating something from nothing. Whether that be a blank canvas , sheet of paper, piece of fabric, using objects in mixed media or the written form. I discovered I loved creating very early as a child. I remember loving the magical quality of rubbing your pencil over the page and discovering the image underneath- something which came to mind as I developed black & white prints in the photo lab in my twenties.
Growing up on a rice farm at Burraboi then later in Swan Hill I grew up absorbing the natural landscape around me.
Completing a Fine Art course at Bendigo CAE allowed me to explore the 3 ‘P’s Painting, Printmaking & Photography. Early mentor, Alan Walker, family friend & accomplished artist , helped inspire my love of landscape. I followed my art course with a Diploma of Education and entered the world of secondary art.
My highlight of teaching was with a group of art teachers under the head of Bruce Wilson. I have always had a love
of books and bookmaking , combined with fabric art & silk painting. Love painting in many scales from very small with my encouragement books to very large mural works Designed a range of garments which were soldthrough Myers stores.
Have always continued to create through the busy years of raising a family and have felt blessed to have travelled in Australia and overseas.
