 Heather Merrett

Through her works Heather Merrett explores the idea that we all tune in when something is special to us, in her case the individuality of the wonderful human form.

Her original inspirations were the prehistoric fertility goddesses and the traditional Japanese block prints which both seem to her to celebrate the form of “woman”.

Her forms celebrate the woman’s individuality, strength, sociability, determination to succeed, patience and resourcefulness.

She loves the actual techniques and the tradition of art making, especially in print making and quilt making and she feels that these media particularly accentuate and illustrate women’s achievements and goals.
